Liposculpture is a more precise version of liposuction. Liposculpture removes excess fat and contours and defines parts of the body that are resistant to diet and exercise and adds definition to the muscles in the arms, leg, back, and buttocks.
Candidates for Liposculpture
If parts of your body have proven resistant to diet and exercise, you may be a good candidate for liposculpture. Patients should be within reach of their ideal weight and be in generally good health, be non-smokers, and have realistic expectations for surgery. Liposculpture is not a weight loss procedure and will not prevent future weight gain.
During a liposculpture procedure, a small incision is made in the treatment area. A small, thin tube called a cannula is inserted into the skin that loosens and removes excess fat, similar to a vacuum. In addition to removing fat, liposculpture also tightens the skin and tones the treated area.
Liposculpture recovery, especially for small treatment areas, is brief. You may be given a compression garment to wear over the treatment area to minimize swelling. You will experience light swelling, bruising, and some discomfort. Most patients are back to work and normal activities within a few days. Patients should be up and moving around a day after liposculpture to prevent blood clots. Recovery is quicker than full surgical procedures like a body lift and scars are often inconspicuous.
